A day in town
Making the most of a day in Copenhagen means stepping out into the open air and taking on the outdoor activities; and despite the Northerly location that can quite often mean putting on the swimwear and getting yourself seriously wet.
The people of Copenhagen love their water sports. From swimming and sailing to canoeing and even windsurfing, there's a heap of fun to be had in the many canals and beaches around the city. Hitting the pavement on two wheels is another popular way to traverse the town, and a great way to cover a lot of ground while staying out in the sunshine.
And there's plenty to do indoors too, like joining the masses of tourists that queue for the world-famous museums; like the Dansk Design Centre and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. And if you feel like flashing your cash and taking home your very own piece of Danish design, try the ultra-modern boutiques set amongst the funky cafes in Sankt Pedersstraede and Studiestraede, two of Denmarks most prestigious shopping strips nestled in the quaint Latin district.
We all know the Danish are masters of cheese, so you owe it to yourself to pull out the digital camera and get a super-cheesy photo with one of Copenhagen's number one tourist attraction The Little Mermaid statue. Danish author Hans Christian Anderson's timeless character is a cultural hero and the Danes treat the story as a national treasure.
A day in Copenhagen is just enough to scratch the surface, but its only when the sun goes down that this town really lights up.
